This message of truth is both timely and deeply needed! Over time, faith has too often been reduced to mere ideology, one that overlooks the real and raw challenges believers face in their walk with God. Yet, it is the power and presence of the Holy Spirit that strengthens us to persevere through life’s trials and remain steadfast in hope.
I truly commend your vulnerability and courage, not to magnify the struggle or bow to victimhood, but to offer a message of wisdom, faith, and resilience that uplifts and inspires others to press on in grace.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” — Acts 1:8
This is an open and authentic message. I can relate to this. God recently delivered me out of a similar horrible pit as mentioned in this message. I cried out to God for deliverance, it did not happen overnight, and I didn't stop believing and trusting that He would deliver me. Thanks be to God I am walking in freedom!!!🙌
Psalm 40:2- He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. Amen
To God be ALL the glory! He's faithful.
May God continue bless you to write messages to inspire His people- especially to the backslider or anyone who is in a backsliding state. I can testify, that I was in a backsliding state. But here's the Good News - Jeremiah 3:14 declares, that God is married to the backslider. Amen ✝️
Even though I was not down that path, I was indoctrinated into a cult and was fed lies. It has taken me a very long time to be at a good place. The weapon is a lie. Sometimes, Im still fed the lie. This life is difficult. It’s uncomfortable and that’s my litmus test. This world should not be comfortable at all. If it is it’s time to reevaluate what is going on.
The weapon really is the lie. The enemy loves to twist truth and make comfort feel safe when it’s really a trap. This walk isn’t meant to be comfortable, it’s meant to change us. I’m glad you found your way out and you’re standing in truth now.
Such a beautiful and raw post. We have such a beautiful glorious God. And it's so very true when Satan knows that you're in Christ he will pull out all stops and attack you from every angle that there is an angle. And you're right and your precious sister. Just keep staying in Jesus Christ stay in prayer and stay in communication with him. That will keep your faith very strong. You're a sweetheart and this is such a sweet post.
Kristen, this is raw truth wrapped in grace, and it lands because it’s spoken from a place of lived battle, not polished religion.
You captured something most believers are afraid to say out loud:
“This walk with Christ is beautiful, but it is bruising.”
It is holy, but it is hard. It is joy, but it is warfare.
And your honesty becomes a refuge for people who are silently drowning behind church smiles.
What struck me most was how you described God meeting you exactly where the shame tried to bury you. Not with a lecture. Not with condemnation. But with “Daughter, I never left you.”
That’s the Gospel.
Not the sanitized, plastic version, but the blood-and-tears, prodigal-dust, grace-that-still-bends-low kind.
You’re right: the enemy doesn’t need us to fall spectacularly. He just needs us to stay stuck quietly. He weaponizes shame because shame is the lock that keeps the heart from coming home.
But your post breaks that lock.
You remind us that repentance isn’t the walk of the condemned, it’s the doorway of the beloved.
You remind us that God’s arms don’t close because we repeated a mistake; they stay open because His mercy repeats more loudly than our failures ever could.
You remind us that God’s faithfulness is not fragile, it’s fierce. And it stretches farther than our weakest moments.
Thank you for saying what many feel but can’t articulate: that faith isn’t about never falling; it’s about always getting caught safely in the arms of God.
And for the one who is reading your words with trembling hands, feeling too dirty, too distant, or too disappointed in themselves, you’ve spoken life:
“Start over. Today.” Because God still shows up in the messy places to do His holiest work.
This is the kind of testimony that makes the broken believe again.
Thank you SO much for reading & your kind words. God has brought me through a lot (& he’s still working ) — my articles are real life stories. Stories I never thought I’d share publicly. I thank God for giving me the strength to share!
I believe my testimony will be someone else’s survival guide!
Kristen, this message spoke to me. I remember surrendering to God and thinking this is the last time I am going to do a particular activity. I did not think He looked at me any less; I just realized the life I once knew was soon coming to an end, and He was meeting me right there. I am thankful that God hears my liquid prayers and simple words when I am speechless.
Walking with Jesus is not only about good times, but it includes sacrifice too:
“For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” (1 Peter 2:21)
There’s no spiritual honour in simply suffering the consequences of wrongdoing. But when you are treated unfairly or suffer even though you did what is right, and you endure it with patience and faith, God sees that as commendable.
Jesus calls all His followers to a life of service and humility.
Absolutely. This walk is not easy. It can stretch you in ways you never expected. The warfare, the pruning! At times you can feel like every layer of you is being tested. But Jesus is worth it every single time! Once you know, you can never un-know. But the part that keeps me grounded is knowing He never asked me to perfect myself. 🙏🏿 It’s Him who does the perfecting. He’s the One who shapes, carries, and restores us.
